The 125th Auxiliary Squadron joined the 15 other Squadrons of the CGADNCR-CL in the coastal clean-up in Baseco, Tondo as part of the National Maritime Week and as a kick-off activity for the International Coastal Clean-up Day.
The Squadron assembled at the parking lot of Foscon Office in Intramuros, Manila around 0400H and proceeded altogether in Barangay Baseco in Tondo. Upon arrival, the Squadron, through the headship of CAPT JUNMAR A ROA PCGA met with other participating Squadrons and the CGADNCR-CL staff for briefing.
At 0600H, CGADNCR-CL began the cleanup activity with a short program with Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Coast Guard Station Manila CDR GREGORIO ADEL JR PCG as guests. Concurrently, 125th Squadron operatives have already begun cleaning its assigned portion of the Baseco river shoreline.
Members, using rakes and thongs, have plucked out garbage from the water and placed it on sacks. When the assigned portion of the Baseco river shoreline for 125th Squadron was ascertained to be free of garbage, Squadron operatives counted the number of sacks containing the collected garbage, and left the area.
15 sacks of garbage were then collected by garbage trucks.
