03 May 2017: Coast Guard station Cavite and its partner squadrons 103rd, 125th and 129th joined the celebration and fluvial parade held in Julugan,Tanza, Cavite to ensure safety of participating devotees through proper boarding procedures, crowd control and navigational safety of bancas during two-hour parade along the shore lines of their community. The first responders of the PCGA were also on stand by and ready should there be any unexpected incident during the parade. Fluvial parades are commonly held to celebrate the town fiesta and to honor their patron saint. 29 April 2017: The Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR-CL squadrons led by 102nd, 125th and 128th squadrons conducted a medical and dental mission in Caridad, Cavite City serving a total of 101 children under the care of Dynamic Teens Company, a group of volunteer youth of the Kariton Klasrum in the city. The sole medical doctor in the team LCDR SIMEON ROMUA PCGA MD of the 128th squadron untiringly attended to the medical assessment of all the children while the 125th squadron dental team led by CDR PAZ B VILLANUEVA PCGA DMD, CDR ROSE G NOLASCO PCGA DMD and CDR JOHN MAYNARD T GRAVE PCGA DMD with the other volunteer dentists conducted oral hygiene lecture, oral cleaning and tooth extraction to the children. 102nd squadron, the newest member of the auxiliary district NCRCL contributed for the medicines needed in the mission. In its efforts to make governance gender responsive not only in the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) but in the PCGA as well, the PCG sponsored a two day Gender and Development Seminar at the GAD Center of the Philippine Ports Authority from April 3-4, 2017. The Gender Sensitivity training enforces "mandates for non-discriminatory and pro-gender equality and equity measures to enable women’s participation in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies, plans, and programs for national, regional, and local development." (http://www.pcw.gov.ph/focus-areas/gender-responsive-governance/initiatives) April Fools' Day means an early 6am clean-up for the 125th squadron in the coastal area of Bgy. San Rafael 4, Noveleta, Cavite to celebrate its founding anniversary on March 29. Joined by the personnel of its partner Coast Guard Station Cavite, the officers of Noveleta Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), the Bureau of Fire and Protection, volunteers from Bgy. San Rafael 4, Mariners' Training Center and the resort staff of Global Resort in Noveleta, almost 30 sacks of debris were collected by the volunteers. The activity was followed by a simple breakfast boodle fight with all the volunteers at the Global Resort and a Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the 125th squadron by the Office of the Mayor of Noveleta, Cavite through its MENRO. In cooperation with the Local Disaster Risk, Reduction Management Office of the Municipality of Noveleta, the 125th squadron joins the Nationwide simultaneous drill after a Seminar on Disaster Preparedness and Basic First Aid held at the Cavite State University. The Rescue team conducted the orientation and presented a disaster plan in case a tsunami warning is raised in Cavite City area. The drill was participated by the students, faculty members and security guards of the university. The exercise strengthened the relationship of the squadron, the institution and the local disaster risk reduction management office in its proactive measures to save lives and properties in their area of responsibility. A joint training on boat handling and water rescue is just one of the near future projects with the guidance of Coast Guard Station Cavite. Although the 125th squadron is operating mainly in Noveleta and Cavite City area, it cannot say no to the call for volunteer services when requested by other organizations seeking assistance in rendering civic actions to the less fortunate coastal communities in our country. LCDR FERNAN PESCASIO PCGA, one of the newest member of the 125th squadron led a medical and dental mission at Orani, Bataan with the R180 Riders Group. Three hundred constituents of Bgy. Pantalan Luma benefited from this joint mission with the support of its Municipal and Bgy. Government. Brave boys from the community also took advantage of the free circumcision during this mission. |
