A foreign national sailing on rough seas was saved from drowning by combined operatives from the Philippine Coast Guard and its Auxiliary from Central Visayas (CGADCEV) and NCR-Central Luzon (CGADNCR-CL)
CGADNCR-CL Director Commodore Larry Dimagiba PCGA reported that LCDR MAX MAKOWSKI PCGA of the 126th Auxiliary Squadron of CGADNCR-CL learned of foreign national who went missing noon time last 21 July, Friday, when his motor banca was battered by rough seas while underway to Camotes Island from Cebu City.
LCDR MAKOWSKI PCGA sought assistance from his Squadron Director CAPT CONRADO SOQUENO PCGA who then relayed the report to COMMO DIMAGIBA PCGA.
Through coordination with CAPT TEODORO SEGURA PCGA and LT JONG ACOSTA PCGA of CGADCEV, CAPT ELPIDIO GUINIO, Deputy Commander of CGDNCR-CL and CGDCEV Operations Center launched a Search and Rescue Operations which initially proved futile.
LCDR Makowski PCGA then commissioned a LionAir helicopter to assist in the sar operations, and at approximately 4PM of the same day, the victim, identified as a certain “Josh” was found floating about 3KM off the coast of Camotes Islands.
The PCG-PCGA SAR sea and land team succcessfully rescued John out of the waters and is currently recuperating in Diosdado Memorial Hospital in Cebu.
Further investigations revealed that the victim, who refused to provide his entire name, is an actor who was filming an event in Cebu.
