The PCGA National Director
VADM VALENTIN B PRIETO JR PCGA is the seventh National Director of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA). He took the reins of leadership from the immediate past National Director VADM JOSEPH N DY PCGA in the early evening of Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Heritage Hotel Manila.
VADM Prieto Jr, in his assumption speech, declared a stronger and effective PCGA that upholds its good working relationship with the Philippine Coast Guard to pursue the common goal of promoting the safety of life and properties at sea.
“VADM DY and I shared the same vision for the PCGA, thus, our direction will be the same. We will execute the same projects while adding a few more. We will pursue our common goals with the Philippine Coast Guard in an atmosphere of friendship, understanding, brotherhood, and mutual respect," VADM Prieto Jr said.
VADM Prieto Jr held positions as the District Auxiliary Director for CGADNCR-CL in June 2014 and as Deputy National Director for Operations in June 2015 before he was appointed as the new National Director.
He is a PCGA member since 2004 under 101st PCGA Squadron CGADNCR-CL where he held several key positions, such as, Deputy Squadron Chief of Staff for MAREP (2005-2006), Deputy Director Auxiliary Squadron for Operations (2006-2009) and Director Auxiliary Squadron (2009-2011). Under the National Directorate, he was the Director of Maritime Search and Rescue (2010-2012) and Deputy National Director for Administration (2012-2014).
VADM Prieto Jr is truly a remarkable leader who dedicates 100% of his time and energy to PCGA in pursuit of his visions to steer the organization to better heights.
He graduated from De La Salle University where he pursued the course of Business Administration. He is married to Elaine M. Prieto and has seven children: four sons and three daughters.
