The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)celebrated its 110th founding anniversaray, with a theme “Para sa Ligtas, Malinis at Mapayapa na Karagatan Tungo sa Maunlad na Bayan” last October 18, with President Benigno Simeon Aquino III as the Guest of Honor.
In his opening speech, PCG Commandant Admiral Ramon C. Liwag said that the organization remains steadfast and focused on its primary goal of maintaining security and safety at sea.
“In confronting challenges thrown its way, the PCG has always endeavored not only to prevail over them but also to dem-onstrate its ever in-creasing determina-tion to grow as an or-ganization and to take on increasingly greater responsibili-ties. We are thus thankful to be serving under His Excellency who is not only appre-ciative of the PCG mission, but who is also supportive of the men and women who dedicate their lives in its pursuit,” says the Admiral.
Adm. Liwag also com-mended its partner-ship with the private citizens in pursuit of the Coast Guard mis-sion.
“The strength of col-laboration is true be-tween nations as it is between individu-als...Case in point are the impressive ex-ploits of Coast Guard Auxiliaries who are private professionals who volunteered to assist us in marine environmental protec-tion and search and rescue operations.”
