2011 has seen numerous natural disasters which have displaced and affected thousands of Filipinos from various provinces nationwide. In response to the plight of our countrymen and in partnership with the PCG and other Local Government Units, the PCGA has embarked on several outreach programs spanning all provinces which were hard hit by storms.
Typhoon Juaning
The aftermath of Typhoon Juaning has left thousands of Filipinos homeless in at least 17 regions in Luzon. For this reason, the 125th Squadron immediately took heed with the call of the PCG and the PCGA to organize relief goods which are to be delivered to the storm ravaged provinces in Luzon.
The Squadron obtained food items that consists of rice, canned goods, noodles and biscuits for every bags of goods.
These were immediately packed and sent to the PCGA Headquarters for distribution.
Typhoon Pedring
The 125th Squadron along with its ERT participated with the PCG, PCGA, and the Philippine Medical Association in conducting a medical and relief operations in Hagonoy and Malolos, Bulacan.
This was organized after a series of typhoons ravaged the province, leaving most of the residents‟ houses in roof-high floods.
The 125th squadron, in association with the 116th Squadron, conducted medical assistance to Malolos, Bulacan and taught the residents on how to prevent and cure athletes foot which they had contracted by walking in the flood.
The group have also distributed relief goods.
Maritime Week Medical & Dental Services
A Free Medical-Dental Services to Filipino Seafarers was conducted at the Seafarers‟ Welfare Center in Kalaw, Manila in cooperation with the PCG, PCGA, Master & Mates Association of the Philippines (MMAP) & MARINA. Twenty seven mariners were under the care of Lcdr Elrey Navarro PCGA MD & thirty seven dental patients were interviewed by Lcdr Paz Villanueva PCGA DMD; two oral prophylaxis were also under her care.
PNRC Blood-letting
125th Squadron joins the Blood Letting Program of the CGAD NCR CL during the birthday celebration of Commo Joseph Dy District Director.
This was in cooperation with Red Cross Rizal Chapter
“Saving live we always do” is a part of the PCGA Hymn that was put into action as members of the CGAD NCR-CL have shared a vital part of their life to save the lives of many.
This was done to augment the high need for blood as the case of dengue fever was on the rise in this season.
Lcdr Juanita Estalani, Ltsg Noemi Alvaran and Ltsg Sheryl Roa participated in the said activity.
Orientation of Tunasan Auxiliarists
Members of the Emergency Response Team of Tunasan, Muntinlupa; Volunteer Nurses and ten Auxiliary Members who came as volunteers to become partners of the 125th Squadron took part in an orientation conducted by the latter in fulfillment of the missions of the Philippine Coast Guard & PCGA in their area of responsibility.
Special trainings will be conducted to equip them and be ready for whatever disaster that may affect their community. The orientation was held at the Environmental Sanitation Center Office in Tunasan Muntinlupa City.
