For the first time in the history of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, a tribute was held in honor of its men, women and officers who have untiringly served the country and the organization‟s long-standing partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard.
A Night of fellowship at the Forum 3 of the PICC in Pasay City, was organized by the Philippine Coast Guard, where officers of both organizations were serenaded by the Philippine Coast Guard Symphonic Band (PCGSB).
PCGSB Conductor Cdr Herminigildo G Ranera PCGA overwhelmed every officer in attendance, as well as PCG Commandant Adm. Ramon C Liwagh PCG, and DoTC Undersecretary Rafael Santos, by performing his moving renditions of various classicals, overtures, and contemporary musicals.
Adm. Liwag commended the PCGSB for its stellar performance and exclaimed “Today, I am the proudest! You have made the PCG proud today.”
In representation of the PCGA, National Director VAdm Higinio Mendoza Jr PCGA responded that “This is the first time that we have received this honor.
“We wash away (the thoughts) that we are being treated as second class citizens, because now, we belong. Thank you for accepting us onboard!”
In his speech, USec. Santos lauded the PCG and the PCGA for the successful and festive occasion.“I have witnessed your dedication on your mandated tasks and how you performed expansions because we‟ve had more maritime incidents. Because of you, there is minimal loss of life,” said the undersecretary who also vowed to support the PCG in acquiring resources particularly the facilities and equipment to enhance its capabilities.
Moreover, USec. Santos commended the PCGA for “... committing your time, talent and resources. May you continue to manifest this dedication.”
125th Squadron enjoys a night of music
Much as being identified as a reliable, efficient, active and dedicated group, members and officers of the 125th Auxiliary Squadron are also known for being fun-loving people.
During the PCG-PCGA Serenata Night, the 125th Squadron, headed by Squadron Director Capt Eliseo P Lim PCGA and Squadron Deputy Director Capt Junmar A Roa PCGA, enjoyed a night of music and fellowship along with four other lady officers of the squadron.
All were filled with pride, wonderment and admiration, applauding the PCGSB in every musical it so expertly conducted and played.
Lively and noteworthy conversations with PCG and PCGA upper-crusts, a sumptuous cocktail, and a magnificent night of melody, were more than enough to best end a day spent cleaning the shores of the Bird Sanctuary in Cavite.Indeed, officers from both the PCG and the PCGA were bound not only by duty, but also by the harmony of music and repose.
