T he second half of this year has been filled with a series of various Marine Environmental Protection activities around the coastal areas in the National Capital Region.
Last August 19, the 125th Squadron has participated in the Joint Mangrove Planting in Brgy. Wakas, Kawit, Cavite as part of the Supreme Court‟s mandamus to clean and rehabilitate the Manila bay; a strategy to climate change adaptation, pollution reduction; and restoration of critical habitats.
Joining the activities were Manila Bay Coordinating Office, DENR Cavite, DILG, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Air Force 15th Strike Wing, the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Also, the squadron and the rest of the PCGA joined hands in a series of coastal clean-ups along the Manila Bay, particularly at the Roxas Boulevard days before the typhoons Pedring and Quiel has ravaged the NCR and as part of the World Coastal Clean-up Day.
Officers were interviewed by the Department of Environmental and Natural Resources for its video presentation of the said event.Finally, the Squadron joined the PCG and the PCGA‟s clean-up activity at the Bird Sanctuary Coastal Road where 125th officers took to the sea and fished out garbage from the waters.
