Community relations and partnerships built by the PCGA 125th Squadron has always been sweeping; ranging from a humble village, to LGUs, to media entities, to private organizations, and recently with an overseas counterpart—the USCGA Northern Virginia Flotilla.
Ltjg Yashika F Torib PCGA, Squadron Communications Officer has recently embarked on a trip to the United States to conduct information exchange, goodwill visit and training with the USCGA NoVa Flotilla.
Through the leadership of Andrew Welch, NoVa Flotilla Commander, Ltjg Torib has attended trainings on Chart Reading, Navigation and Boat Operations. She also took part with the Flotilla‟s safety patrol at the Potomac River during the Hurricane Irene.
The officer also participated in the Flotilla‟s University Programs - a campus-based detachment of the USCGA on various universities around the country, where college students are developed and trained to become auxiliarists.
Ltjg Torib also had the privilege to visit the US Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington D.C. as well as the US Coast Guard Training Site in Yorktown, Virginia.
Accordingly, the NoVa Flotilla was pleased to learn that despite some differences in duties and other matters, the PCGA‟s causes and missions of keeping a safe and secure maritime environment was as similar to theirs as with the other auxiliaries in the world.
