The 125th Auxiliary Squadron was assigned to conduct clean-up operations, as part of the International Coastal Clean-Up Day last 06 October 2012, in Cavite City.
The team assembled at the Mercury Drug store in front of SM Bacoor around 0530H and proceeded altogether in Cavite City. Upon arrival, the Squadron through the headship of CAPT JUNMAR A ROA PCGA, met with PO1 Divino Endozo PCG and PO2 Francisco Felisimo PCG at the Coast Guard Detachment (CGDet) Canacao in Cavite City.
The Squadron was briefed with the day’s activity and was divided into five (5) teams while waiting for other operatives from other Squadrons.
At 0700H, the Squadron began with the clean-up, while other participants arrived and joined the activity around 0800H.
The Squadron was joined by Local Government Unit in Cavite headed by Mayor Romeo G. Ramos of Cavite City; Barangay 8 GSO; Barangay 62 GSO; and PNP- Maritime Group.
The garbage along the coast line was removed by operatives through rakes, pails and thongs. The rest of the team dealt with the extricated garbage by putting those in sacks and organizing it in a pile. Others listed the collected garbage according to type on the standard ICC format. A total of 200 sacks of garbage was then collected and hauled by garbage-trucks.
CAPT JUNMAR A ROA PCGA was interviewed by reporters of ABS-CBN who covered the ICC, and the video was shown in ANC (http://www.youtube.com/embed/d_8VfsV41zc)
