The Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Edmund C Tan together with three (3) other newly-promoted officers took their oath before President Benigno S Aquino III in a ceremony held at Malacañang Palace, Manila today.
Vice Admiral Tan, who was promoted from Rear Admiral to Vice Admiral following his assumption as Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard last January took his oath together with three (3) other newly promoted Rear Admirals, Rear Admiral Cecil R Chen PCG, Rear Admiral Lino H Dabi PCG and Rear Admiral Luis M Tuason Jr PCG.
This long been awaited promotion of the Rear Admirals including Rear Admiral Rodolfo D Isorena PCG who was not able to take his oath today in view of his Command engagement at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London took effect last May 3, 2012.
Rear Admiral Cecil R Chen is the incumbent District Commander of Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL) is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy Sandigan Class of 1982. Rear Admiral Chen is a holder of Masters Degree in Maritime Affairs Specializing in Maritime Education and Training Nautical Stream from the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden. Prior to his posting in his current position, he was the former District Commander of Coast Guard District Central Eastern Visayas, Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog and Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao.
Rear Admiral Lino H Dabi is the incumbent Vice Commandant for Administration and a holder of Master Degree in Maritime Safety Administration also from the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden. Prior to his posting in his current position, Rear Admiral Dabi was the former District Commander of Coast Guard District South Eastern Mindanao and Coast Guard District Palawan and Commander of Coast Guard Education and Training Command and Marine Environmental Protection Command and was the former Chief of Coast Guard Staff of the Philippine Coast Guard.
Rear Admiral Rodolfo D Isorena is the incumbent Commander of Coast Guard Fleet and also a proud member of Philippine Military Academy Sandigan Class of 1982.Rear Admiral Isorena is a holder of Master Degree in Maritime Safety and Marine Environmental Protection also from the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden. Prior to his posting in his current position, he served as District Commander of Coast Guard District South Western Mindanao and Coast Guard Southern Tagalog and Chief of Coast Guard Staff of the Philippine Coast Guard.
While Rear Admiral Luis M Tuason Jr, is the incumbent Vice Commandant for Operation of the Philippine Coast Guard and a proud member of Philippine Military Academy Matikas Class of 1983. Rear Admiral Tuason is also a holder of Master Degree in Maritime Safety Administration from World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden. Prior to his posting in his current position, he served as the former District Commander of Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon and other Commands based in Bicol and Western Visayas Region and the MIMAROPA Command which covers the provinces of Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan and the Northern Luzon Command that covers National Capital Region – Central and Northern Luzon.
Along with the promotion of the Senior Officers, 94 Junior Officers were also promoted to the next higher rank from Ensign to Lieutenant Junior Grade and from Lieutenant Junior Grade to Lieutenant Senior Grade.
Following their oath, PCG Commandant Vice Admiral Edmund Tan together with the new Rear Admirals were accorded with a Testimonial Honor at the Headquaters Philippine Coast Guard.
